"Local decision- making about state services is every county commissioner's dream. Comprehensive planning involving community service providers, advocates, and citizens is the way to be sure that the needs of children and families are being addressed, using best practices, to achieve measurable results."
- Ben Boswell, Commissioner
Wallowa County
Stronger Together
In 1999, the Oregon Legislature directed all state agencies that provide services to children and families to
- Increase efficiency and effectiveness by developing a collaborative partnership among themselves;
- Set guidelines for planning, coordination and delivery of services to children and families; and
- Engage citizens in local decision-making to support the well-being of children and families.
Partners for Children and Families is the ongoing collaboration that grew out of that mandate.
